In the futuristic country called "The Unification", Individual freedom is absolute, responsibility is optional, and common sense is dangerously outdated.
Governed by the idealistic Rowan Sinclair and guided by an artificial intelligence called Your Conscience, society has descended into chaos. Criminals enjoy protection, essential services collapse, and every government solution creates another disaster.
Education is about learning the 650 genders, working is voluntary, police and army have been disbanded and the courts have closed down
As law and order disintegrate, former police officers form The Gryphon Riders, an underground resistance determined to restore justice and accountability.
But challenging the government means confronting the powerful intelligence controlling it.
As revolution approaches, one question remains:
Can humanity save itself from a system it created to save humanity?
The Gryphon Riders "We Shall Not Be Governed by Conscience Without Reason."
After 127 jumps toward the galactic core, the crew of the Constellation encounters something impossible: a nonhuman object hanging in space and strange signals that may be interfering with the ship’s AI. As Commander Gerald Younge investigates unusual fracture patterns in the jump coils, Dr. Hysen reveals the deeper they travel, the more the fabric of spacetime itself may be distorting around them. With the ship’s drive at risk and an unknown intelligence nearby, the crew must modify the Hysen Fold Drive before they end up stranded far from home.
Lucas Cadalain has spent his entire life refusing the neural implant nearly everyone else depends on. In a civilization too complex to navigate without one, that decision has condemned him to the bottom rung of society, but Lucas would rather stay a baseline than let a corporation decide what he can know, what he can become, or whether his own mind keeps working.
Then a dying old man gives him an implant that shouldn’t exist.
No subscription. No corporate owner. No skill ceiling.
And when Lucas discovers his implant can remove the restrictions from other people’s implants too, Aethis Heavy Industries suddenly has a much bigger problem than one runaway baseline.
